Visit Poundbury brings together Poundbury’s amazing businesses in one easy to use website. It’s designed to help visitors plan their perfect visit to Poundbury. The site brings together great search and mapping; putting businesses and users in control whether they are using the site on desktop or mobile devices.
So, how does it work?
1. Create an Account
Creating an account with Visit Poundbury is really easy. First, click on Register in the drop down menu or at the bottom of this page. This will bring up a pop-up box where you need to enter your name, create a username for your account, enter your email address and choose a strong password. Once you have submitted this form, you will receive an email and you will notice that your name now appears in the main menu. Here you can navigate to Add Listing. Clicking this link takes you to the page where you can add your business details.
2. Create Your Listing
Submitting a listing using Visit Poundbury is really straightforward. First, enter your company name, email, website and phone number. Next you enter your business address and get your location just right by moving the pin on the map if you need to. Once that is done, you can enter a description of your business that tells potential customers what you do, what products or services you offer and anything else that will show what a great business you are. You can add as much or as little as you like but you should definitely aim to capture the interest of website users.
The next step is choosing a listing category for your business from the drop-down menu.
Next, you can add images and video to your page. Firstly, you will need to decide on a banner image for the top of your page. This looks best if it is a landscape picture. You can then add up to 6 images to the gallery that will appear on your page. You will be able to change these any time you like. If you have video on YouTube or Vimeo, you can link to it here too and it will feature on your page.
Next you can add your social links and finally your opening hours. That’s it, you’re good to go! Tick the box to prove you’re human, hit the ‘Preview’ button and you’ll see the page you’ve created. If you need to change anything, click ‘edit listing’ and you can go back and make the changes you need. Once you’re ready, click ‘Submit Listing’ and you’re nearly there.
3. Make Your Payment
Making your payment is the final stage. We use Stripe to handle payments on the site. They manage payments for millions of companies from start-ups to some of the world’s biggest companies like Amazon and Booking.com. Their system provides absolute security and you don’t need an account with them to make a payment, just your bank or credit card details.
